Preferences & Shortcuts

Open Preferences from the ⚙ in the top bar. Two tabs: General (Import + Import defaults + Appearance + License) and Keyboard Shortcuts.

Preferences — General tab (with License card)

General → Import

  • Existing art layer — what happens on Apply when an art layer already has strokes: Replace (clear first), Merge (append), or Ask.
  • Merge split lines into one stroke — the default for the merge toggle on new imports.

Import defaults

Defaults for every new drawing / sequence: Default art layer (loose import) (where a loose / unclassified import lands — Line Art by default), Fit mode, Scale, Simplify, Max thickness, and Min thickness. New slots start from these; you retune per slot in the Inspector.

Min thickness is a percentage of Max

Min thickness is a percentage of Max, not an absolute value — the same way Harmony's own pencil states its minimum. A line's thin end is that fraction of its thick end, so the taper you set here is WYSIWYG with Harmony's pencil.

Appearance

  • Overlay vector point colour — the anchors overlay.
  • Overlay pressure point colour — the red pressure keys.
  • Background presets live on the Previewer toolbar.

License

The License card is the persistent place to manage licensing in Harmony — it survives a dismissed trial banner. It shows:

  • Status — Activated, Trial: N days remaining, or Expired.
  • Machine ID — the identifier for this computer, selectable so you can copy it.
  • Change Key / Activate — opens the activation dialog to enter a licence key. The button reads Activate until a licence is active, then Change Key.
  • Return License — appears when active; opens the same dialog to return the licence so you can move it to another computer.

Both buttons open the same activation dialog the trial banner opens, reachable in any state. One licence covers all three DCCs on one machine — see Licensing for activation, returning, and machine binding.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Preferences — Keyboard Shortcuts tab

Two lists:

  • Configurable — double-click a row to rebind; Esc cancels, Del resets to default. Conflicts are flagged in red.
  • From Harmony (read-only) — shortcuts OVB mirrors from your Toon Boom config so they match your muscle memory. Change these in Harmony · Edit → Keyboard Shortcuts; OVB just reads them. These include Zoom, Next/Previous frame, New Peg/Group/Composite, New drawing, Reset preview view, and Brush size (hold O + drag · [ ]). Undo/Redo and Delete are fixed conventions.

OVB follows your Harmony shortcuts

Because the read-only list is sourced from your Toon Boom keyboard config, the tool feels like part of Harmony — zoom, frame-stepping, and node creation use the keys you already know.
