Octo Scene Assembler

Octo Scene Assembler (OSA) builds your Toon Boom Harmony scene before Harmony ever sees a file. Point it at folders, PSDs, image sequences, SVGs and templates; arrange them into the hierarchy you actually want — pegs, groups, composites, backdrops, art layers, effects — and press Assemble once. Every node is created, connected, named and laid out on a grid, in a single pass.

  • A folder becomes a hierarchy

Drag a delivery folder in and its subfolders arrive as a tree, not a pile. One row can carry a peg, a group, a composite, a backdrop, a drawing and an effect chain at the same time.

  • Your names are the rig

head=P-G-C imports head with its peg, group and composite already built and named. The same tag works in a Photoshop layer, a Windows folder and a row you rename in the tree.

  • Magnets route by name

A folder called PROPS lands under your PROPS branch, however deep it was buried. Define the destinations once and whole deliveries sort themselves.

  • Art layers, on purpose

Aim any artwork at Underlay, Colour Art, Line Art or Overlay — and stack several images on one of them as subart layers, flattened in the order you set.

  • A Node View you can read

The Wide Bus layout puts masters on top, content side by side, composites below what they aggregate, and reserves a strip for effects. Backdrops nest like matryoshka dolls, measured from the inside out.

  • Nothing is written until you say so

Staging is a plan: drag, split, merge, rename and undo at zero cost. The scene is untouched until Assemble — and the plan survives a Harmony crash.

What it reads

Source What OSA does with it
PSD Layers and groups become the tree. Layer names are read as tags; adjustment layers become Harmony effect nodes; layer masks become mattes.
Image sequences (PNG, JPG, TGA, TIF…) Numbered files become frames of one drawing, with the range detected for you.
SVG Imported as vector artwork into the art layer you choose.
Harmony templates (.tpl) Staged as a single block with its own frame range, dropped in wherever you place it.
Transform Sync (.anm, .pvt) Animation and pivots from Octo Transform Sync, applied to the peg OSA builds.

Everything meets in the Staging column, where you shape the hierarchy before a single node exists.
